"We Are Family—Working Together for Total Success," is more than the motto at C. D. Hylton Senior High School, it’s a way of life. Principal Carolyn Custard has set the tone for the past five years by ensuring every student, faculty member, staff member, and parent feels like a valued member of the Hylton community.

And it’s working! The school was recently recognized by Newsweek as holding a place in the top 5% of the magazine’s Top 1000 High Schools in the Nation.
透過合作領導策略,如專業學習社區、校長諮詢委員會、教務委員會、教師顧問方案與全校職員發展,Custard確保每一位成員是能主動參與並實現學校願景與目標。而這所學校近來被Newsweek雜誌舉辦國內一千所高中的前百分之五中脫穎而出。As principal, Custard continually emphasizes, models, and supports efforts to personalize and individualize instruction to meet the needs of all students. She and the staff developed an inclusive school culture across the curriculum through co-teaching teams and a strong focus on teacher collaboration, differentiated instruction, and research-based teaching practices.
身為一位校長,Custard不斷的強調、以身作則與努力支持個人化與個別化教學,以滿足學生的所有需求。Custard與教育行政人員發展一種具有包容性的學校文化,跨越了課程的共同教學團隊,並且重視教師合作、差異教學與以研究導向為基礎的教學實務計畫。Common planning time, formative assessments, weekly administrative walkabouts, and SAT tutorials contribute to the climate of high expectations in this school of more than 2,000 students. The administration and staff also work with the feeder middle school to develop a Ninth Grade Academy as a focus of the ninth grade transition program.
